The new Building 744 complements the existing Building 745 and completes the university campus in Viscosistadt. The architecture reinterprets the industrial past of the area: the façade with its striking pilaster strips is reminiscent of the former viscose factory and at the same time conveys openness and transparency. Publicly accessible areas on the ground floor promote integration into the neighbourhood.
The new building houses studios, classrooms and specialised workshops. The workshops were redesigned as part of the ‘3D Workshops of the Future’ and ‘Workshops 2020’ projects and offer students optimal conditions for creative development.
In the foyer, a ‘forest’ of specially manufactured FEZ ceiling lights sets striking accents. This special design was developed specifically for the entrance area and, with its rhythmic arrangement, provides inviting, atmospheric lighting for the entrances. The lights combine functional lighting with creative expression and underline the architectural character of the space.
