Cantonal Council - Lucerne

15. October 2024 Public buildings

Located in the heart of Lucerne, the Renaissance palace serves as the canton's government building and houses the cantonal council. The imposing 16th-century structure was built in the Florentine style and reflects the social status of its builder, Lux Ritter.

The cantonal council chamber has been the political center of Lucerne for over 150 years. This is where the elected representatives meet to decide on important subjects and developments in the canton of Lucerne.

During the comprehensive renovation in 2019, a custom lamp was developed to fit the historic desks. It fulfils the highest functional and aesthetic requirements for a modern workplace in a protected historical context. The design is based on the established lamp heads of the PINA LED and PIO models and was adapted to the ergonomic and lighting needs of the council members.
